TSSA is delighted to welcome charismatic
and outrageously successful
Houston businessman Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale as
our keynote speaker for 2009!
A one-man whirlwind of the “ready, fire, aim” variety, Mack is a retail
force like no other. In 1981, with a failed business and a bankruptcy
behind him, he arrived in Houston with just $5,000 and a
nothing-will-stop-me determination to open a furniture store. During the
next 28 years, Gallery Furniture sold more per square foot of retail
space than any store in the world, ringing up sales of more than $200
million per year. That’s BIG! |
Cut to May of this year, when Gallery
Furniture’s enormous main location was devastated by a four-alarm fire
on a Thursday. Most would have been in shock, with head in hands and at
least a temporarily gloomy outlook. But as expected, on Friday Mack
jumped to action and was delivering furniture from his smaller Houston
location, the next day. Nothing can slow this man down.
The core of this keynote will be The Seven Principles of Marketing and
Management, and they’re the compass points that can guide you, too, in
solving problems, making decisions, and delighting customers. Mack’s
lessons are applicable to work, career, community involvement, and life.
They are specific, practical, and powerful. |
