What Would Thomas Edison Think Today?

Jan 14, 2013

by Brom Hoban, TSSA Director of Communications

I wonder what Thomas Edison would think, were he alive today. The genius inventor helped open the gateway to widespread use of electricity with inventions like the light bulb and sound recording devices. But even Edison would most likely be amazed at the world we live in today...

Drive your car down the highway and a call comes in through Bluetooth and you casually have a conversation (just by speaking aloud in your car) with a person on the other side of town, or the other side of the world, for that matter.

Click facetime on your iPhone or use Skype, and see the person you’re conversing with. The “TV” phone is now real!

And what about that ol’ Internet!? It’s changed so much of our way of communicating, gathering information, and social interaction. What began as a project for research and education organizations has developed into a medium with a “revolutionary impact on culture and commerce, including the rise of near-instant communication by electronic mail, instant messaging, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) ‘phone calls,’ two-way interactive video calls, and the World Wide Web with its discussion forums, blogs, social networking, and online shopping sites.

As a forward-thinking organization, TSSA has kept right up with the ever-evolving electronic world we live in, and we encourage you to join in with us, whether it’s taking a poll on our website, or downloading our Goldbook© app (the number one legal resource for the self-storage industry in  Texas. Or join us on Facebook, and be a social part of what is happening in the Association, and industry.

And while you’re in cyberspace, check out the new edition of TSSA Forms Online Software (by Blue Moon). It’s now available for purchase, and current users of the Windows version can upgrade for free.

Take your leasing to the “clouds” and:

•  Access the Blue Moon database from anywhere

•  Generate and execute rental agreements online

•  Send the rental agreement by email to your tenants

•  No need to download software; always have the latest version of the TSSA forms

•  Multiple users can access the program at the same time

•  Create and manage customized login accounts

•  Administrator-level features give you complete user access control

As the information-age world we live in continues to evolve, and the connectivity of our business and personal relationships along with it, we’re right there with you: a part of the amazing times we live in.

Thomas Edison would be proud!
