The Joy and Pain of Growth

May 31, 2013

by Holly Barr, Administrative and Education Assistant

Yesterday was my youngest daughter’s kindergarten graduation. It was an exciting time and a little sad, too. My last baby is growing so fast! I just know high school graduation will be here in the blink of an eye.

This got me to thinking about the similarities of parenting and owning a business. I am sure you remember that first dollar you made (much like a child’s first steps), as well as that first real profitable month. Perhaps you have graduated to adding new buildings along the way?

Each step you have taken has been well thought-out no doubt, exciting, and possibly even a little painful at times. There may have been a bit of a “letting go” process. Did you run the business yourself and then hire a manager for the first time? What was that like?

If you are looking to take yet another step and expand your current location, looking to buy more property, or just thinking about the future of your business and what your goals are—come to our Executive Retreat! It’ll be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get a lot of information in one place. The retreat will be held June 19th and 20th. You can see all of the details here

We’d love to hear from you, whether you are just taking your first steps or going for that “master’s degree” with your business. Feel free to comment. Let’s share and grow this self-storage community.
