Human Interaction is Good for the Soul

Oct 24, 2013

by Brom Hoban, TSSA Director of Communications

My last blog was all about new ways of staying connected. International phone apps, Skype, Dropbox, Facebook- you name it we’re connected electronically 24/7 no matter where you are.

But I did leave out something: actual human relationships.

Jimmy Kimmel recently had a skit on his late night show about how Facebook went down for a few hours, leaving millions of people unconnected. He joked about how as a substitute, we were all forced to try something brand new: actual friends. See them, hear them, watch their facial expressions, reach out and pat them on the back, oh my!

A funny routine, but it emphasizes just how far we’ve drifted in the digital world. Needless to say, all of us understand the value of human relationships. And as we head into our annual conference and trade show, y’all have a great opportunity to experience them.

Seriously, this event is the ultimate self-storage summit. Coming together in this fashion is an ancient ritual, shared by many cultures- think of it as a kind of “Pow-Wow.”  It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet, network, learn, and above all share. Not only business ideas but friendships and partnerships can come about through enriching face-to-face interaction.

So, yeah, carve out a little time from your normal routine and head for the Marriott Woodlands Waterway  Hotel & Convention Center, and join us for the annual TSSA Conference and Trade Show. You’ll be glad you did.
