Are You Ahead of the Game? Using the World Wide Web to Market Your Self-Storage Business

Mar 14, 2014

by Amanda Perez, Social Media & Marketing Coordinator

When searching for a product or a place, the majority of consumers are consulting the World Wide Web.  Examples of places that consumers are searching for include restaurants and businesses and that includes self-storage.  Consumers are hoping to find out as much information about self-storage properties that fit their needs, especially location and cost of renting a storage unit.  Consumers want to feel as though their items will be safe at the storage facility and that the business is eager to interact with them.

There are various ways that self-storage owners can use the web to market their business and stay up-to-date with the latest trends in technology.   It is important for business owners to use various methods to reach current and potential customers by branding themselves online.  One of the first marketing resources to consider is having a website for your self-storage business.  Tips to remember when you are in the beginning stages of having a website built or perhaps even building your own, is to make sure that it is user-friendly and easy for consumers to find information they're searching for.

Another marketing tool available to business owners is social media.  Social media is a free source of marketing and another way to connect with consumers.  Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are a great tool for business owners to connect with current and potential customers.  Social media sites allow you to connect and talk to your customers in ways that just having a website will not.  With social media, you can have conversations with your customers, answer questions, market special promotions or discounts, and most importantly, stay ahead of your competitors.

It is important for you, the business owner, to stay ahead of the game and market yourself using available resources.  By taking the first steps of branding yourself online, you are on your way to a successful business.
