Help TSSA Members Succeed
The Litmus Test for Our New Board

WOW! I can- not believe I am sitting here writing my first President’s Message. When I first joined this organization about 18 years ago, I would never in my wildest dreams have been able to imagine that I would be doing this now. I look back on that time and realize how naive I was about the storage industry.  I had so much to learn and was thankful for every opportunity given to absorb whatever knowledge I could from the people within this association.  I was so inspired by the people who were running this association, and am so flattered to join their ranks now. I am excited to follow Mike Gately as president, and realize that he has set the standard pretty high during his term. Mike is one of those people you just can’t help but admire and I am honored to follow in his footsteps.

At the time of writing this article, we had recently held our annual board planning meeting. This meeting is the time when both the newly elected and the returning board members join together to make plans for the coming year. We’re going to miss our two outgoing board members Jill Holbrook and David Hunt, who have both made tremendous contributions at our board meetings over the last three years. We’ll also miss Robert Loeb, past president, who has been such an active and essential part of this board for many years.  At the same time, we are eager to welcome our three new board members Chris Martin, George McCanse and Lisa Meylor. It was exciting to see how these new members jumped right in and have already become an integral part of this board.

Throughout the planning meeting we were focused on the mission: “Help Texas Self Storage Association Members Succeed.” This is the litmus test for every decision we make as a board. As we make plans for, not only the upcoming year, but also looking even further into the future, we are trying to identify ways to help our members succeed in this industry. The future looks bright for our industry and we are thankful that you have trusted us to help in this journey.

Best Wishes,

Amy Nolan
