Compass Self Storage acquires second Dallas-area self-storage center

Compass Self Storage, part of the Cleveland-based Amsdell Cos., announced Thursday, Oct. 2, that it has acquired a second self-storage center and has additional plans to expand in the Dallas area.

The miniwarehouse has more than 123,000 square feet of rentable space and is located in Fate, Texas. Compass said it plans to add 20,000 square feet of rentable area to the property.

Compass also is constructing self-storage centers in the Dallas area. Compass said it also plans to open a storage facility in Grand Prairie, Texas, this fall as well as one on an unspecified date in Mansfield, Texas.

Compass did not disclose the purchase price or identify the seller of the Fate property.

Compass is the latest chain of miniwarehouse operated by the Amsdell family, which has previously operated or owned more than 500 self-storage centers in 27 states.
