CHARITABLE FUNDRAISING

TSSA’s Legacy of Giving

TSSA has chosen the Shriners Hospitals for Children® as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts for 23 years, raising more than $2 million in lifetime donations! The reason becomes clear during a tour of the hospital and the results are evident in the care provided. Their slogan, “Love to the Rescue,” perfectly describes their commitment and efforts. Money is raised through events at the annual Big Ideas in Storage conference via a charity poker tournament, auctions, raffles and direct donations.

Because of TSSA’s legacy and commitment to fundraising on behalf of Shriners Hospitals for Children©, we were given an exclusive naming opportunity for the Quiet Early Mobility Room at the Galveston location. For the next two years, all fundraising efforts will be directed towards this amazing opportunity to have our name permanently engraved at the hospital. And every single cent donated still goes directly to the hospital to help children receive expert specialty medical care regardless of the family’s ability to pay for treatment.

The Early Mobility Room is a safe space for patients learning (or re-learning) how to stand or walk. The floors are covered with padding so that if a child falls, he or she is protected from injuries from a hard floor. This could be a young child just learning how to coordinate standing or an older kid recovering from a traumatic brain injury. A child may also be learning how to use a prosthetic limb after an amputation. This room also serves as a space to provide therapy for patients who are easily overwhelmed or overstimulated. In the Quiet Early Mobility Room, there are fewer distractions and noises compared to the Rehab gym.

Join the $1 per unit challenge to support Shriners

Watch a short video to learn about the $1 per unit challenge. We are asking members to donate $1 per unit they own, per year. That’s it! If just half our members gave a buck per unit, we could raise over $400,000 per year for Shriners! Join the movement now.

Texas Hold ‘Em Charity
Poker Tournament

This fun event has become a tradition at the annual conference. Players can join in the fun for a $150 entry fee. Even novice players can have a fun time so don’t be shy if you’ve never played. For a small donation of $75, spectators can enjoy libations and cheer for their favorite poker player, or just sit back and watch the action.

Why do we raise money for Shriners?

Watch a short video to hear members of the TSSA Board of Directors and other generous donors explain why we are so passionate about raising money for Shriners Children's Texas.

Live and Silent Auctions at tssa annual conference

Items for the live and silent auctions are solicited by volunteers from area businesses, and others are donated by our members. Our generous members continue to offer their products, services or even their fishing boat, vacation home or autographed books by their favorite authors.
